Newborn transition

The physiologic process by which the infant adapts to life outside the uterus. This includes clearing fetal lung fluid, establishing regular respirations, redirecting blood flow away from fetal shunts, maintaining body temperature, and beginning to regulate blood glucose through feeding and energy use.
